IKEA Eco-Friendly Decor Round-Up October 2019

I've always loved Ikea. The combo of a buffet of yummy, affordable food (with vegetarian options!), and affordable, modern home decor is a pretty great pair in my book. We usually take our time and make a day of it. Yesterday started out as a rainy, cloudy, gloomy fall day, so it was the perfect time to make the trip. We grabbed some veggie balls, a slice of Daim cake, and a couple of coffees from the cafe and were ready to make our way through the long winding aisles. (BTW, the coffee is UTZ certified for sustainable farming practices *thumbs up*)

Now, I've known that Ikea offers some sustainable decor options for a while now, but on my most recent trip I noticed that they are really starting to advertise their efforts and showcase their "green" options that they have available. For someone like me that wants to make a sustainable choice and often goes out of my way to do so, its great that Ikea is making those products easier to locate. But I wanted to make it even easier for those that may be new to the healthy, and eco-friendly decor world and put all of those products in one place.

So what are my favorite eco-friendly decor products at Ikea currently? You all said you wanted to know, so here they are!

#1 LOHALS Jute Rug $90 (5'3 x 7'7)

Jute fibers are very durable and made from a fast-growing grass which requires little to no use of pesticides. It is completely biodegradable and can also be recycled many times. These properties make jute a very desirable material for many products, especially rugs. The color and texture will add a natural warmth to any space and also provide some insulation against hard surface floors in colder climates. Jute rugs are a very versatile decor staple, and with their neutral color, can be paired with just about any color scheme or style.

#2 ULRIKSBERG Rattan Armchair $99

Ulriksberg is made from rattan, a renewable and biodegradable resource, and metal which is recyclable. It is light weight, comfortable, and adds the perfect natural/boho touch to your room while still providing clean, modern lines.

*Pro Tip: Pair Ulriksberg with the GAMLEHULT rattan ottoman ($69) for a complete, and versatile look.

#3 KUNGSFORS Mesh Bags $6 (set of 2)

These mesh bags are a styling way to use less plastic while shopping. Fill them with your favorite fruits and veggies at the grocery store or farmer's market to avoid single use plastic produce bags. They store away easily when not in use, and expand to hold lots of produce. Best of all they are made from 100% all natural cotton grown on sustainable farms that use less water, less fertilizer, and less pesticides, while allowing for a larger profit to farmers.

#4 BRONDEN Hand Woven Rug $269 (5'7 x 7'10)

The fun and brightly colored Bronden rug will add a unique flair to any room. Each one is unique because they are handmade by skilled weavers in India that are provided with good working conditions and fair wages. Made from 100% wool the rugs are warm and durable with a luxurious texture, and as a natural material are completely biodegradable.

#5 JOFRID Throw Blanket $30

This one may "unofficially" be my favorite on this list. The color, the texture, the material, the price! This beautiful throw blanket is un-bleached and un-dyed, getting its gorgeous natural color from the materials themselves. Made from sustainably sourced cotton and linen, this is a luxurious combo that cant be beat. Add a bit of soft, natural texture to any room.
